| The Japanese shared much in common with thousands of other immigrants who came to Hawaii. All possessed the courage to leave the comfort of their homes to make a better life for themselves and their families. The Center chronicles their travels from Japan in 1868, through their lives on the plantations of Hawaii, through WWII, and finally, to their economic and political struggles for the freedom they now experience today. |
