This site is listed to provide accurate information. In the past, this hike was very popular, however, the hike is CLOSED to public access at this time and is DANGEROUS due to the deteriorating condition. Hikers disobeying closure signs throughout Hawaii will be subject to prosecution. Unbelivable views overlooking the North shore and valleys in the distance. Listen for the harmonious White-rumped Shama birds.

Directions:

Take H1 west bound. Get off at the Likilike exit and go through the mountains. Take Kahekili Highway west toward Laie. A few miles past Kahana Bay, turn left onto Hauula Homestead Road. Turn right onto Maakua Homestead Road which will lead you the the trail head.

Safety Tips for Hiking:
  • Inform a friend of your route and your expected time of return.
  • Never hike alone or go beyond your capability
  • Always bring water, basic first aid kit and rain gear, just in case.
  • Do not drink stream water which contains biological impurities
  • STAY ON THE TRAIL.
