Shark Encounters
See the beauty and splendor of Hawaii’s sharks as they rise from the depths to greet you. This thrilling experience, offered nowhere else in Hawaii, will profoundly affect your feelings towards sharks, as you join them three miles off Oahu’s beautiful North Shore.
You will leave Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor and travel out to sea to view these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. Often on the way you will also see dolphins, Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, and magnificent Humpback Whales (November through May). All this, and breathtaking views of Oahu’s North Shore make your adventure complete.

Two-hour tours ($60 per person) are scheduled throughout the day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special Shark Cage Tours are available by request. Our vessel "Kailolo" is moored in slip 35 of the Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor.

Shark Cage Adventure Tour:
The first tour leaves Haleiwa Harbor at 7:00 a.m. and lasts two hours. Additional tours are available throughout the day. Shark Adventures uses a 26-foot Anderson boat with a swim step at the stern. Safety of our passengers is our first concern and we will begin the tour with an informative safety briefing. People may bring their own mask and snorkel, however, fins are not necessary. The sharks we see range in size from five to fifteen feet. These sharks will often be inches away from the cage and the spectators inside.

We will travel offshore approximately three to four miles. Once we get to the area, the shark cage is placed into the beautiful cobalt blue water. The visibility is so good (often 200 feet or more) that you can actually see the sharks come up from the deep. The cage can hold two people very comfortably, however, we have had up to four people in it at a time depending on the weather conditions. People are encouraged to bring underwater cameras because they will be able to get some of the best photographs of Hawaiian sharks possible anywhere.

North Shore Shark Adventures has been featured on the BBC Outdoors in England, ESPN Outdoors and soon will be on Canadian Wildlife Television. People from around the world, including England, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and from almost every State in the mainland have enjoyed the tour. Some of the people that come on the tour have never been in the ocean before. Many of people come with a phobia about sharks. After our tour their inhibitions and fears disappear and they have a greater respect for sharks and their beauty.
