Moaula and Hipuapua Falls are located on private land above Halawa Valley. The path is not well marked and you will need a guide to obtain permission and lead you to the falls. Both falls can, however, be viewed from multiple lookouts along Highway 450. Moaula Falls is a double tiered fall which drops a total of 250 feet into a lovely pool at the bottom. It is among one of the prettiest hike in Hawaii. Native flowers, mangoes, ginger, ha'u trees and ancient taro patches line the hike. The hike takes at least one hour and is approximately 4 miles. It is classified as strenuous, muddy, hot, and mostly uphill.

Directions:
Take Highway 450 all the way to the end at Halawa. The waterfalls are located north above the valley, following the Halawa Stream.

Useful Information:
The falls are located on private property. Access to the falls must be obtained by contacting one of the local tour companies such as Waterfall Adventures.
Wear sturdy shoes
Be prepared to get wet as you will cross Halawa Stream several times
Bring water
Bring insect repellent
DO NOT hike if it has been raining as the area is known for flash flooding
There are many sites along Highway 450 going east toward Halawa Valley where both waterfalls can easily be viewed at a distance.
