Kaunakakai Wharf
"Beach Landing"

Central Molokai

This harbor is located across the main highway from the island's main city of Kaunakakai. Here is where all commercial and ferry boats dock and where all essential goods are delivered to the island via tug boats and barges.

Due to the shallow mud flats along the coast, the wharf extends almost ½ mile offshore. From the end of the wharf you can view the city, the south coast, and, across the Kalohi Channel, the neighboring islands of Maui, Kahoolawe and Kauai. The stone foundation behind the canoe club at the beginning of the wharf was the site for King Kamehameha V's summer retreat in Molokai.

Useful Information:

  • Center for all boat transportation
  • The Maui Princess ferries passengers to and from Maui daily from this harbor
  • Drive to the end of the harbor for excellent views of the southern coastline

  DIRECTIONS:
From the airport, take Highway 460 east approximately 7 miles. Turn right on Ala Malama Street which becomes Wharf Road. The road dead ends into Kaunakakai Wharf.
