Our Lady of Sorrows Church

Highway 450

Father Damien's second Catholic church on Molokai was Our Lady of Sorrows. Built in 1874, the church remains in excellent condition and is beautifully silhouetted by the mountains. During his visits to St. Joseph's, Father Damien would also stop and say Mass here. Even though he was extremely ill with leprosy for several years prior to his death, Father Damien maintained his arduous schedule.

Useful Information:

  • Be respectful as this is a religious and historic site.

DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 450 east. The church is located on the mountain side of the road between Mile Markers #14 and 15, just 200 yards from Kaluaaha Church.
