| This small cross stands among lush vegetation beside Paihi Falls. The cross is a memorial to Helio Koaeloa, one of the earliest Hawaiian Catholic priests on Maui. Born in 1815, he was baptized in Honolulu in 1840. He served the people of Maui even before the Catholikc Church established an official missionary here. |

erected in his memory in 1931. |
