West Maui
aka: North Beach or Airport Beach
This beach is named after the last king of Maui. King Kamehameha fought long and hard to defeat King Kahekili, who turned out to be his father. The beach is long and sandy with great facilities. A windbreak protects the air from aggravating afternoon winds. Snorkeling and scuba diving is especially good here.
Swimming is hazardous due to hidden rocks in the surf. Swimming is better further down the beach toward Black Rock.
