Dr. Dwight Baldwin and his family lived in this house
from the mid 1830's until 1868. The house served as a medical
office and general center for missionary activity, with
a seamen's chapel and Christian reading room.
The Baldwins had a fine garden of native
and introduced plants such as Kukui, kou, banana, guava,
figs, and grapes. The Lahaina Restoration Foundation restored
the house in the early 1960's and maintains the home as
a museum.
