Hana is the birthplace of the famous Queen Kaahumanu, wife of King Kamehameha I. The Hana Cultural Center features a courthouse, jail, stone lamps, poi boards, tapa cloth, quilts, fish hooks and much more. The jail was used from 1871 - 1978 and inmates had to mow the grass and tend the grounds. There is also a pre-contact Hawaiian Village reconstruction depicting housing and garden types.
