Hana Highway, North Maui
This lovely crescent of sand is carved in the cliffs bordering Honolua Bay, a protected marine preserve. This secluded, beautiful beach had a wonderful Hawaiian name until Honolua Ranch, which sits above the bay, built two slaughterhouses nearby. Even though these sheds were torn down in the mid-1960's, the unfortunate local name remains. Foregoing the name, this beach is a great place to get away and enjoy the wonders of nature.
