The Stables at Koele provide numerous opportunities to enjoy the beautiful countryside of Lanai. Located just outside Lanai City off Highway 440, the stables are convenient to both resorts and Hotel Lanai. Shuttle service is even provided between the hotels and the stable. Western and English tack are available.

 
 
The Koele Trail Ride is a 1 1/2 hour leisure walking ride through the woods and up the ridge where sweeping views of Maui, Molokai, Lanai and the Lodge of Koele can be seen.
 
 
The Paniolo Trail Ride, a 2 hour trip, takes riders through the hills surrounding Koele. Guests will travel through guava groves and ironwood trees, perhaps glimpsing the axis deer, quial or wild turkey that live in this area. Riders also get a panoramic view of the dryland forest of Kanepu'u and little town of Lanai City.
 
 
Mahana Trail Rides are 2 1/2 hours and explore the windswept plains of the old Lanai Ranch. Scenic views of Maui, Molokai, Maunalei Gulch and Lanai Hale are part of this beautiful ride. Wildlife often "pose" for pictures along the trail.
 
 

The Mahana Meal Ride not only provides a picturesque tour of the Mahana Trail, but guests stop for a leasurely meal, prepared by the resort restaurant.

Private trail rides are also available traveling the same trails but at a faster pace for the more experienced riders. These rides can be arranged for 1 - 4 hour trips. Private day rides (7-8 hour trips) can also be arranged by special request.

 
 

Sunset Rides and Ku'uipo (sweetheart) Rides can be customized to meet the guests needs and desires.

Children's rides are also avaialabe. An experienced instructor will slowly guides the child around a protected corral on one of the gentle, child-friendly horses.

 
 
A one hour Carriage Town Tour is also available as well as 30-minute or one hour private lessons. Whatever your horseback riding desires are, Koele Stables are sure to meet your needs!
 
 

Useful Information:

  • No experience necessary for group trail rides. Basic riding instructions are provided by the staff.
  • Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended for riding.
  • Reservations required - contact the concierge at your hotel or call the stables at 808-565-4424 for more information, times, and prices.
 
 
DIRECTIONS:
Go north from Lanai City on Highway 440. The Stables at Koele are on the left just past the Lodge of Koele.
 
 
Western and English tack are available for riders.
 
  Everything you need to make your ride comfortable and memorable is provided by the Stable at Koele.  
 
Beautiful rolling hills of pastureland surround the stables. Horses graze in the open fiels.
