Tidepools
|
 |
| |
Highway 440, West Lanai
Great tidepools can be found to the right of the
Kaumalapau
Harbor. These tidepools are home to many
small sea creatures and can be very interesting
to explore.

|
| |
The harbor area here is well-protected
by low seacliffs which also provide some protection
for the tidepools. However, the ocean is always unpredicatable
so extreme caution must always be used and never turn
your back on the ocean.

This area is well-known by local
fisherman as an excellent shore fishing spot and you
can see fisherman lined up along the sea wall.

Useful Information:
- Always use extreme caution when entering tidepools
as the ocean is dangerous and unforgiving
- Wear reef shoes as the lava is rough and slippery
- Do not wear oil or lotions in the pool as they
are lethal to the sea life that lives in the tidepools
- No facilities anywhere nearby

DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 440 west from Lanai City to the end of
the road. The harbor is approximately 7.5 miles out
