Kaumalapau Harbor Lookout

Highway 440, West Lanai

Located off Highway 440 is an excellent site for viewing the western coast of Lanai. In the foreground is Lanai Oil, located above the Kaumalapau Harbor.

The harbor here is very deep and was built to handle the busy pineapple business during the early 1900's. When pineapple was no longer produced on Lanai, the harbor became a haven for local fisherman.

Low seacliffs, rocky tidepools, deep water all combine to make the views here splendid.

Useful Information:

  • Great photo opportunity from this lookout of the harbor, seacliffs, and ocean
  • No facilities at the harbor

DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 440 west from Lanai City to the end of the road. The harbor is approximately 7.5 miles out of town. The lookout is about a mile before you reach the harbor.
