Po'opo'o Fisherman Trail

New Manele Road, South Lanai

This steep trail is not for the faint of heart. This narrow trail leads almost straight down the seacliffs surrounding Huawai Bay to a small beach area known for excellent shore fishing.

The overlook is usually the closest most tourists get to the bay and tidepools below and it provides some breath-taking panoramic views.

Located just before the Challenge at Manele Golf Course, the views of the greens are almost as dramatic as the views of the pounding ocean below.

DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 440 south out of Lanai City. About 5 miles out of town the highway makes a left turn, continue straight on Kaupili Road and take the first left on New Manele Road. Follow this road down to the ocean. The road runs through the golf course. The paved trail to the bay is on the right just before the golf course begins.

Sheer seacliffs surround the bay and make the trail steep and difficult.
