Munro
Trail
| |
A stand of Cook Island Pines can be seen
growing along the ridges of the mountains. |
| |
Breathtaking views from the scenic
lookouts along the trail encompass the mountains,
the valley, and all the way to the ocean.
| |
The valley area below the mountains was
once lush with pineapples until 1994 when it was no
longer profitable to grow the sweet fruit. |
| |
Small ravines become larger gulches
over the centuries as rains wash away the sediment
leaving large gashes in the hillside.
| |
Clouds often cover the mountain tops obscuring
the view. It is best to travel in the early morning
for the best scenery possible. |
| |
Often times the trail travels right
along the edge of the ridge. Other finger-like ridges
can be seen in the background.
| |
Sweeping vistas, lush valley, blue ocean
- all in one picture. |
