Shipwreck Beach, Northeast Lanai
This remote hiking trail is located off of Shipwreck
Beach and leads inland for several miles.
The trail is poorly marked after the trailhead and
is mainly used by local fisherman to reach sites
that are not accessible by vehicles.
|
|
|
| |
The trail was first constructed
in the late 1800's and linked several small coastal
settlements. During that time, Lanai had a much larger
population and was known for its excellent fishing.
Much of the original trail lies under sand dunes or
is overgrown with thorny kiawe scrub.
