Makaha Ridge Road,

West Kauai

Located in beautiful Waimea Canyon State Park, Makaha Ridge Road descends 2,000 feet toward the ocean. Several dirt hunting roads lead off the paved road into a forested picnic area.

The views from the edge of the canyon are very dramatic but the hunting roads are only open during certain times of the year.



Useful Information:

Use caution driving this road due to the steep descent.

Makaha Ridge Tracking Station is located at the end of the paved road .

Dirt roads are open seasonally and lead to dramatic lookouts and forested picnic areas.

There are no facilities anywhere along the road.

DIRECTIONS:

Take Highway 550, Waimea Canyon Drive, north into the park. Makeha Ridge Road is the paved road on the left near Mile Marker #14.
