This garden is part of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens and was donated to the society in 1976 by Juliet Rice Wichman. It was opened to the public in 1995. It has recently been rated the top botanical garden in the United States. This unique garden is nestled in the mountains and is dedicated to the preservation of native Hawaiian culture and plants.
Seventeen acres of the Garden are open for tours and another 988 acres is a protected preserve. A walk through the gardens takes you up 200 feet to a beautiful overlook of the ocean. Limahuli Valley is where early Hawaiians lived over 1,000 years ago. The lovely Limahuli Stream meaders through the garden.

A 2/3 mile loop-trail through garden goes up 200-feet to overlook the ocean.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 56 west from Hanalei toward Ke'e Beach. Limahuli Gardens is located on the left side of the road after Mile Marker #9.
