This Buddhist Temple, located off the main highway in Hanapepe, is an exotic but familiar site in Hawaii. When Japanese workers were brought to Hawaii to work in the sugar cane fields, they brought their Buddhist religion and many temples were built throughout the state. The teachings of Zen extend back thousands of years and are based on human rights, peace, and environmental conservation.
Statues and altar decorations are located both inside and outside the temple and are very symbolic to the religion.

Open to the public.
Remove shoes before entering the temple.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 50 west toward Weimea. The temple is located off the main road in Hanapepe, near Mile Marker #17.
