Highway 56,
East Kauai
Kapa'a is a quaint old town on the east coast of Kauai just after Wailua. The main drag can often become quite congested with traffic, so many people opt to take the "temporary" bypass road on the left between Mile Marker #6 & 7. However, there is great shopping in this little city. The Kauai Village Shopping Center, numerous specialty stores, and funky outlets line the street.
Useful Information:
Shops, restaurants, and hotels are located in and around the city.
Bypass road is useful if the main highway is congested, however, it is closed during sugar harvesting time.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 56 north from Wailua. Kapa'a is located only a mile down the road.
