Sea arches can be seen throughout the Hawaiian
Islands. This large arch is located on Kalapaki
Beach, oceanfront of the Kauai Marriott Resort.
Sea arches result when lava flows
into the cold ocean water and quickly cools. This
fast cooling makes the lava weak and vulnerable to
erosion, often creating an arch.
Useful Information:
Never climb or walk across an arch as they are
unstable and could collapse
DIRECTIONS:
From Lihue Airport exit onto Ahukini Road, Highway 570. Take
the first left on Kapule Highway then left on Rice Street.
Continue approximately 1/4 mile. The Marriott Hotel entrance
is on the left. The sea arch is located in front of the hotel
on Kalapaki Beach.
