Kukuiolono Park & Golf Course
"light of Lono"

Kaloa, South Kauai
808-332-9151

This public golf course was built in 1929 and later donated to the state by Walter McBryde. It was only the second course to be built on Kuaui. Today is one of the finest, and certainly the least expensvie course in the state. For only $7 per day, a person can play to their hearts content.

Duncan McBryde developed this land after leasing it from King Kamehameha III in 1860. His son, Walter, eventually purchased the 178-acre estate. He loved the area so much that he was buried near the 8th hole of the golf course. The park features a small Japanese Garden, legend stones and beautiful panoramic views.

Useful Information:

  • Park open 7am - 6:30pm, daily
  • Golf start times are from 7am - 3pm
  • Green fees: $7/day; 17 and under, $3/day
  • Cart fee: $6 for 9 holes

  DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 50 east from Hanapepe toward Po'ipu. The town is between Mile Marker #12 and #11. The park and golf course is just after the only traffic light in town.

A lovely Japanese Garden is located near and around the golf course.

This is the eighth oldest golf course in the state of Hawaii.

Wind is a prevailing factor when playing this course as it overlooks the plains and the Pacific Ocean.
