Kupaloke Lei
Pink Carnations with White Tuberose Flowers
The tuberose flower is 2-inch elongated white blossom with elongated petals and a strong perfume fragrance. This flowering plant grows year-round in Hawaii and is often considered the "traditional" lei flower of the islands because of its intoxicating aroma. Blossoms are picked in the cool early morning or late evening when they are in full bloom. This lei is interspersed with pink or red poni-mo'i (carnations) to add a festive color to the creation. The lei is then hand-sewn in circular fashion with approximately 30-45 blossoms.
STORAGE: Keep the lei dry. At night, place in a paper bag and refrigerate. Average lei life for the delicate tuberose is 1-2 days.
