Makiki Forest Recreation Area is the location of three trailheads. This trail is a leisurely walk running parallel to Kanealole Stream. Along the trail, be sure to view the ruins of stone walls from a coffee plantation in the 19th. century.

 
 

Safety Tips for Hiking:

  • Inform a friend of your route and your expected time of return
  • Never hike alone or go beyond your capabilityAlways bring water, basic first aid kit and rain gear, just in case
  • Do not drink stream water which contains biological impurities
  • STAY ON THE TRAIL.

Directions:
Take Kalakaua Ave. out of Waikiki. Turn left onto South Beretania Street. Turn right onto Keeaumoku, then turn right onto Nehoa. Turn left onto Makiki Hights Drive. This will lead to the entrance of Makiki Recreation Area
