This small beach is located in front of the Pu'ukohola Heiau. No swimming or sunbathing is allowed out of respect for the nearby religious site. Many human sacrifices were offered at the heaiu. The first was Keoua who was killed on this beach as he and companions disembarked from their boat. His death assured King Kamehameha the Great supremecy over all the islands. Offshore and underwater is a shark heiau. The actual location is unknown. But it was here that many human sacrifices were made to the shark god.
