This sandy beach is fronted by a rocky lava shelf making swimming
poor in this bay. The best beach area is located in front of
the Kona Village Resort.
The entire bay is surrounded by sand and
palm trees but the surf is often rough. Be sure to monitor
ocean conditions carefully before entering the water here.
The rocky lava shelf makes access difficult, slippery and
dangerous.
Useful Information:
Poor swimming
Sandy and rocky beach
NO lifeguards
NO facilities
DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 19 north from Kona. Turn left just past Mile
Marker #87. At the Four Seasons Resort guard house ask for
a "public access pass" to the beach. Turn right
at the intersection and follow the road to the parking area
and Public Access trails to the beach.
The views are very nice here but there are better beaches
along this coast.
The bay is open to the ocean so the surf
is often rough making swimming dangerous.
