Highway 30 to Highway 340, Maui
The highest peak among these mountains is Pu'u Kukui at 5,788 feet. Running through the mountain range, the 'Lao Valley is famous for its history and scenery. There are hikes, beaches, lookouts, valleys, towns, shopping, water activities - in other words, there is something for everyone along this scenic highway.
The Lahaina Highway 30 is not heavily traveled with few towns. Fill the gas tank and bring drinks and snacks before starting out. Highway 30, prior to Kahakuloa Village at Mile Marker #41, turns into a one lane road which is carved into the mountain and changes names to Highway 340.
Highway 30, which becomes Highway 340, is the main road that encircles West Maui.
