This temple was established in 1914 and dedicated to
the teachings of Soto Zen. The large wooden structure
is painted red and has a unique, silver corregated roof.
Inside are two alters decorated in silver
and gold brocade.
This room displays numerous ceremonial drums.
The followers of Soto Zen firmly resolve
to proclaim their message of human rights, peace and environmental
conservation. They realize how precious life is and how
important it is for everyone to live together in harmony.

DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 11 south from Kailua-Kona to Honalo (around Mile
Marker #115). The temple is located on the left side of the
road next door to Teshima's Fine Foods.
